Read instructions and get ready to cook
Preheat oven
Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
Sauté onions
Finely chop the onions and sauté them in a large skillet over medium heat until softened and translucent.
Brown ground beef
Add the ground beef to the skillet and cook, breaking it up with a spatula, until browned and no longer pink.
Season the filling
Season the beef and onion mixture with salt, black pepper, and paprika. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
Prepare egg mixture
In a separate bowl, whisk together the eggs and sour cream until smooth.
Melt butter
Melt the butter in a small saucepan or microwave-safe bowl.
Grease baking dish
Brush a 9x13 inch baking dish with some of the melted butter.
Layer phyllo and filling
Place a sheet of phyllo dough in the baking dish, brush with melted butter, and repeat layering until half of the phyllo sheets are used. Spread the beef filling evenly over the phyllo, then pour the egg mixture on top. Layer the remaining phyllo sheets, brushing each with melted butter.
Cut and bake
Using a sharp knife, cut the unbaked burek into diamond-shaped pieces. Bake for 45 minutes or until the top is golden brown and crispy.
Serve
Remove the burek from the oven and let it cool for 10 minutes before serving.
