Steps

Read instructions and get ready to cook

1
Prepare the croutons

Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Cut the baguette into 1-inch cubes. Toss the bread cubes with 2 tablespoons of olive oil and a pinch of salt. Spread the cubes on a baking sheet and bake for 10-12 minutes, until golden and crispy. Set aside to cool.

2
Prepare the lettuce

Remove any damaged outer leaves from the romaine lettuce. Cut off the stem ends and separate the leaves. Rinse the leaves thoroughly under cold running water and pat dry with a clean kitchen towel or use a salad spinner. Tear the leaves into bite-sized pieces and place them in a large salad bowl.

3
Make the Caesar dressing

Mince the garlic and anchovy fillets. In a small bowl, whisk together the minced garlic, minced anchovies, Dijon mustard, lemon juice, egg yolk, black pepper, and remaining olive oil until well combined.

4
Assemble the salad

Grate the Parmesan cheese. Add the croutons and grated Parmesan cheese to the bowl with the lettuce. Drizzle the Caesar dressing over the salad and toss gently until the lettuce is evenly coated. Season with salt and black pepper to taste.

5
Serve

Divide the Caesar salad among four serving plates or bowls. Serve immediately and enjoy your delicious, classic Caesar salad!
