Preheat the oven
Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
Prepare the puff pastry
Allow puff pastry to thaw if frozen. Roll out on a lightly floured surface. Spread softened butter evenly over the pastry.
Add sugar and chocolate

Shape the palmiers
Starting from both long ends, roll the pastry toward the center until the rolls meet in the middle. Press gently to seal. Cut the roll into 1/2-inch slices.

Bake the palmiers
