Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease an 8x8 inch baking dish and line with parchment paper.
In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the butter and chocolate chips in 30-second intervals, stirring between each interval, until smooth.
In a large bowl, whisk together the sugar and eggs until light and fluffy.
Gradually stir the melted chocolate mixture into the sugar and egg mixture. Add the vanilla extract and mix until well combined.
In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, and salt.
Gradually stir the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients until just combined.
In a separate bowl, mix the mascarpone cheese and powdered sugar until smooth.
Pour the brownie batter into the prepared baking dish and spread evenly.

Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out mostly clean (a few moist crumbs are okay).
