Steps

Read instructions and get ready to cook

1
Preheat the oven

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease a 9x13-inch baking dish.

2
Layer the ingredients

Cut 8 oz of bread into large cubes (about 1½ inch pieces).
Chop ham, turkey, and Swiss cheese into bite-sized pieces.
Place half of the bread cubes into the dish.
Sprinkle with half of the ham, turkey, and cheese.
Add the remaining bread cubes, then the rest of the meat and cheese.

3
Make the custard

In a bowl, whisk 6 eggs with 1½ cups milk, 1 tbsp Dijon mustard, ½ tsp salt, and ¼ tsp pepper.

4
Pour and soak

Slowly pour the egg mixture over the bread and fillings in the dish.
Press down gently with a spatula so the bread absorbs the liquid.
Let it sit for 10 minutes.

5
Bake

Bake uncovered for 35 to 40 minutes, until puffed and golden brown on top.

6
Serve

Let it cool for 5 minutes. Dust with 1 tbsp powdered sugar.
Serve with ¼ cup jam on the side if desired.
