Preheat the oven
Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
Prepare the bread loaf
Using a serrated knife, cut a long, oval-shaped hole in the top of the French bread loaf, leaving about a 1-inch border around the edges. Carefully remove the bread from the center, creating a boat-like shape. Place the hollowed-out bread loaf on a baking sheet.
