Prepare espresso
Brew espresso and let it cool to room temperature.
Whisk egg yolks and sugar
In a large bowl, whisk together egg yolks and granulated sugar until pale and thick.
Add mascarpone and vanilla
Add mascarpone cheese and vanilla extract to the egg yolk mixture. Whisk until smooth and well combined.
Whip cream
In a separate bowl, whip heavy cream with an electric mixer until stiff peaks form.
Fold cream into mascarpone mixture
Gently fold the whipped cream into the mascarpone mixture until well combined.
Dip ladyfingers
Quickly dip each ladyfinger into the cooled espresso, then arrange a layer of soaked ladyfingers in the bottom of a 9x13 inch dish.
Layer filling and ladyfingers
Spread half of the mascarpone filling evenly over the ladyfingers. Repeat with another layer of soaked ladyfingers and the remaining filling.
Chill tiramisu
Cover the dish with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, or overnight, to allow the flavors to meld.
Dust with cocoa powder
Before serving, dust the top of the tiramisu with cocoa powder using a fine-mesh sieve.
Serve
Slice and serve the tiramisu chilled.
