Steps

Read instructions and get ready to cook

1
Preheat Oven

Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

2
Mix Dry Ingredients

In a large bowl, whisk together 2 cups of all-purpose flour, 1/3 cup of granulated sugar, 1 tablespoon of baking powder, and 1/4 teaspoon of salt.

3
Prepare Almonds

Roughly chop 1/2 cup of whole almonds.

4
Cut in Butter

Add 1/2 cup of cold, cubed unsalted butter to the flour mixture. Use a pastry cutter or your fingers to work the butter into the flour until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.

5
Add Wet Ingredients

In a small bowl, beat 1 whole egg. Mix in 1/2 cup of heavy cream and 1 teaspoon of almond extract. Pour this mixture into the flour mixture, adding the chopped almonds. Stir until just combined.

6
Shape and Cut

Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface. Knead gently, then pat into a round disc about 1 inch thick. Cut into 8 wedges.

7
Bake

Place the scones on the prepared baking sheet. Bake for 15 minutes, or until golden brown.

8
Serve

Allow the scones to cool on a wire rack for a few minutes before serving. Enjoy warm or at room temperature.
