Steps
Read instructions and get ready to cook
Preheat the oven
Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
Prepare the balsamic glaze
In a small saucepan, combine the balsamic vinegar and honey. Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce the heat and simmer until the glaze has thickened and reduced by half, about 10 minutes. Set aside.
Season the cod
Season the cod fillets with salt and black pepper on both sides.
Prepare the garlic
Mince the garlic cloves.
Sear the cod
Heat the olive oil in a large, oven-safe skillet over medium-high heat. Add the cod fillets and sear for 2-3 minutes on each side, or until lightly golden.
Add the garlic
Add the minced garlic to the skillet and cook for an additional 30 seconds, stirring constantly.
Bake the cod
Transfer the skillet with the cod to the preheated oven. Bake for 8-10 minutes, or until the fish is cooked through and easily flakes with a fork.
Prepare the basil
While the cod is baking, finely chop the basil leaves.
Finish the dish
Remove the cod from the oven and drizzle the balsamic glaze over the fillets. Sprinkle the chopped basil on top.
Serve
Serve the Balsamic Cod hot, accompanied by your favorite side dishes.
