Steps

Read instructions and get ready to cook

1
Prepare oven and baking dish

Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a 9-inch square baking dish with butter or cooking spray.

2
Prepare blueberry filling

In a large bowl, mix blueberries with 1/2 cup sugar and juice of 1 lemon. Pour the blueberry mixture into the prepared baking dish.

3
Prepare biscuit topping

In another bowl, whisk together flour, remaining 1/2 cup sugar, baking powder, and salt.

4
Cut in butter

Cut cold butter into small pieces. Using a pastry cutter or your fingers, work the butter into the flour mixture until it resembles coarse crumbs.

5
Add milk

Gradually stir in milk until the dough comes together. Do not overmix.

6
Top and bake

Drop spoonfuls of the biscuit dough evenly over the blueberries. Bake for 40-45 minutes, until the top is golden brown and the blueberries are bubbling.

7
Cool and serve

Let cool for 15 minutes before serving. Serve warm with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream, if desired.
