Steps
Read instructions and get ready to cook
Preheat Oven
Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
Prepare Beef
Season the beef tenderloin evenly with 1 teaspoon of salt and 1/2 teaspoon of black pepper.
Sear Beef
In a large ovenproof skillet, melt 2 tablespoons of butter over medium-high heat. Add the beef tenderloin and sear on all sides until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes per side.
Prepare Garlic and Thyme
While the beef is searing, mince the garlic cloves and chop the fresh thyme.
Add Garlic and Thyme
Reduce the heat to medium. Add the minced garlic, chopped thyme, remaining 2 tablespoons of butter, 1 teaspoon of salt, and 1/2 teaspoon of black pepper to the skillet. Cook for 1 minute, stirring frequently.
Roast Beef
Transfer the skillet to the preheated oven. Roast the beef for 25-30 minutes for medium-rare, or until it reaches your desired level of doneness.
Rest and Serve
Remove the beef tenderloin from the oven and let it rest for 10 minutes before slicing. Serve the slices with the buttery sauce from the skillet drizzled over the top.
