Steps
Read instructions and get ready to cook
Cook noodles
Preheat the oven to 375°F. Cook egg noodles in a large pot of salted water according to package directions until al dente. Drain.
Cook beef
While noodles cook, heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add ground beef and cook, breaking it up with a wooden spoon, until no longer pink, about 6-8 minutes.
Add aromatics
Add diced onion and minced garlic to the skillet. Cook, stirring often, until onion is soft and translucent, about 5 minutes.
Add sauce and seasonings
Pour in tomato sauce. Season with Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Stir to combine and simmer for 2-3 minutes.
Combine beef and noodles
Add the cooked and drained noodles to the skillet with the beef sauce. Toss gently to coat the noodles evenly.
Transfer to baking dish
Transfer the beef and noodle mixture to a greased 9x13 inch baking dish and spread out in an even layer.
Add cheese and bake
Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese evenly over the top of the casserole. Bake uncovered for 15-20 minutes until hot and bubbly and the cheese is melted and lightly browned. Let stand 5-10 minutes before serving.
