Read instructions and get ready to cook
Activate yeast
In a large bowl, mix the warm water, active dry yeast, and sugar. Let it stand for 5 minutes until foamy.
Add flour and salt
Add 3 cups of all-purpose flour and salt to the yeast mixture. Stir until a soft dough forms.
Knead dough
Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and knead for 5-7 minutes, gradually adding the remaining 1 cup of flour until the dough becomes smooth and elastic.
Let dough rise
Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a clean towel, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
Peel and mince garlic
While the dough is rising, peel the garlic cloves and mince them finely.
Punch down dough
Punch down the risen dough and divide it into 12 equal pieces.
Shape rolls
Shape each piece of dough into a round roll and place them on a greased baking sheet.
Brush with oil and garlic
