Steps
Read instructions and get ready to cook
Preheat the oven
Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x13-inch baking pan.
Mix the dry ingredients
In a large bowl, whisk together the semolina, flour, baking powder, and salt.
Mix the wet ingredients
In another bowl, whisk together the eggs and sugar until light and fluffy. Add the yogurt, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract, and mix until well combined.
Combine wet and dry ingredients
Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined. Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan.
Bake the cake
Bake the cake for 35-40 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
Prepare the syrup
While the cake is baking, prepare the syrup. In a saucepan, combine the water, sugar, and lemon (cut in half). Bring the mixture to a boil, stirring until the sugar dissolves. Reduce the heat and simmer for 10 minutes. Remove the lemon and discard.
Pour the syrup over the cake
When the cake is done, remove it from the oven and immediately pour the hot syrup evenly over the top. Let the cake absorb the syrup for at least 30 minutes.
Serve and enjoy
Cut the Ravania into squares and serve at room temperature. Enjoy this moist and flavorful Balkan dessert!
