Steps

Activate yeast
In a large bowl, mix warm milk, active dry yeast, and 1 tablespoon of sugar. Let it stand for 5 minutes until foamy.
Add sugar and butter
Add 1/4 cup of sugar and 1/4 cup of softened butter to the yeast mixture. Mix until the butter is melted and combined.
Add egg and salt
Beat in the egg and salt until well incorporated.
Gradually add flour
Gradually add the all-purpose flour to the mixture, stirring until a soft dough forms.
Knead dough
Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and knead for 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
Let dough rise
Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a clean towel, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
Prepare filling
In a small bowl, mix the remaining 1/4 cup of sugar with the cinnamon.
Roll out dough
Punch down the risen dough and roll it into a 12x18 inch rectangle on a lightly floured surface.
Spread butter and sprinkle filling
Spread the remaining 1/4 cup of softened butter over the dough and sprinkle the cinnamon-sugar mixture evenly on top.
Roll up dough
Starting from the long side, roll up the dough tightly into a log.
Cut into spiral shapes
Using a sharp knife, cut the log into 12 equal pieces. Place each piece, cut side up, on a greased baking sheet, shaping it into a snail-like spiral.
Let buns rise
Cover the shaped buns with a clean towel and let them rise for about 30 minutes or until nearly doubled in size.
Preheat oven
Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
Bake buns
Bake the snail-shaped buns for 18-20 minutes or until golden brown.
Serve
Remove the buns from the oven and serve warm.
