Read instructions and get ready to cook
Chop Onion and Mince Garlic
Peel the onion and chop into small pieces. Peel the garlic and mince finely.
Sauté Onion and Garlic
In a pot, heat olive oil over medium. Add chopped onion and garlic. Sauté until translucent.
Add Chopped Tomatoes
Rinse tomatoes. Chop roughly into chunks and add to the pot.
Season with Salt, Pepper, and Sugar
Add salt, black pepper, and sugar. Stir well.
Add Broth and Simmer
Pour in vegetable broth. Stir and bring to a boil. Then lower heat and simmer for 25 minutes.
Blend Until Smooth
Remove from heat. Use an immersion blender to blend soup until smooth. Or let cool slightly and blend in a blender.
Add Hot Sauce and Basil
Chop fresh basil. Stir in hot sauce and chopped basil. Let it sit for 5 minutes before serving.
