Steps
Read instructions and get ready to cook
Press and marinate the tofu
Drain the tofu and press it between two plates with a weight on top for 15 minutes to remove excess liquid. Cut the tofu into 1/2-inch cubes. In a shallow dish, whisk together the soy sauce, rice vinegar, and sesame oil. Add the tofu cubes and gently toss to coat. Marinate for 10 minutes.
Prepare the vegetables
Mince the garlic cloves and grate the ginger. Separate the butter lettuce leaves, rinse, and pat them dry. Julienne the carrot and red bell pepper. Thinly slice the scallions.
Cook the tofu
Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Remove the tofu from the marinade and add it to the skillet. Stir-fry the tofu until it is golden brown and crispy on all sides, about 5-7 minutes.
Add garlic and ginger
Add the minced garlic and grated ginger to the skillet. Stir-fry for an additional 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
Assemble the lettuce wraps
Place a spoonful of the cooked tofu mixture in the center of each lettuce leaf. Top with julienned carrots, red bell peppers, and sliced scallions.
Drizzle with hoisin sauce
Drizzle the hoisin sauce over the top of each lettuce wrap.
Serve immediately
Serve the tofu lettuce wraps immediately, allowing diners to wrap them up and enjoy.
